Procedure for confirming the thesis topic
The thesis topic/and research works to be accomplished shall be based on
the common understanding between the supervisor and the student. The
supervisor shall prepare a 1-2 page long working document outlining the
following:
a) A thesis title
b) A very short introduction to outstanding research problems associated with the topic.
c) A concise description of the research works to be performed part of
the thesis works. This will normally include planned method(s) to be
adopted for the work.
d) Time line- indicating the different stages of work-progress tracking
by the supervisor, and the internal examinations and the external
examinations from the department.
The document shall be signed by the supervisor and the student and
submitted to Head of the Department and Course Coordinator. The working
document will serve as a guideline for the student for the entire thesis
period.
Work Progress Tracking
Following steps are to be followed by the student and the supervisor:
i) The student will maintain a work diary, which shall be signed by the supervisor at regular intervals (weekly or fortnightly).
ii) The student will meet the supervisor every week.
iii) In each meeting, the supervisor will record the details of the
meeting in the work diary of the student. The supervisors note must
contain the following in his/her handwriting:
a) The date of the meeting.
b) The topics discussed in the meeting.
c) The anticipated work from the student before the next meeting.
d) The date of the next meeting.
e) The supervisor’s signature.
iv) On every meeting with the supervisor, the student has to show their
progress of the project in the form of a small presentation (3-4 slides)
so that efficient tracking of the progress can be done.
v) In case the student is out-stationed, it will be his responsibility
to ensure that the details mentioned in points ii) and iii) are met.
Further, the student must appraise the head supervisor at a regular
interval (at least fortnightly) at the university about the progress
made on the thesis tasks. Such communication can be through emails and
if required through video-conferencing and emails.
vi) The evaluation of the work should be done by a committee twice
during a semester. Before submission of thesis, a pre-submission
viva/seminar will be conducted.
vii) Each student will present his/her work before a committee
comprising of HOD, Course-Coordinator and Supervisor. The final grade of
the student will be based on the agreement of the committee with input
from external and internal examiners.
Modification of Project Tasks
Any significant changes required in the working document (e.g. change of
methods, time line, or title) shall be only possible upon a common
application by the student duly signed by the supervisor and submitted
to Head of the Department and Course Coordinator.

All the journals which have been subscribed by the University are
accessible to all the students "IN CAMPUS". They are not accessible from
outside the campus. The library has provision for 5 students to access
the journals simultaneously. In few days, the the number of access
points shall be increased.
