SUBMISSION OF SEMINAR TOPICS AND METHODOLOGY OF PROJECT

Dear Students,

You are advised to submit your seminar topic and methodology of the project by 30th September 2016 to respected HOD sir. Your methodology should be duly signed by you and your guide and then submitted. Contact your respective guides for any queries. Also you have to give a presentation of the progress of your project work to your respective guides (notice already there on blog).

The guidelines to be followed is being shared with you and they are,

Procedure for confirming the thesis topic

The thesis topic/and research works to be accomplished shall be based on the common understanding between the supervisor and the student. The supervisor shall prepare a 1-2 page long working document outlining the following:

a) A thesis title

b) A very short introduction to outstanding research problems associated with the topic.

c) A concise description of the research works to be performed part of the thesis works. This will normally include planned method(s) to be adopted for the work.

d) Time line- indicating the different stages of work-progress tracking by the supervisor, and the internal examinations and the external examinations from the department.

The document shall be signed by the supervisor and the student and submitted to Head of the Department and Course Coordinator. The working document will serve as a guideline for the student for the entire thesis period.

Work Progress Tracking

Following steps are to be followed by the student and the supervisor:

i) The student will maintain a work diary, which shall be signed by the supervisor at regular intervals (weekly or fortnightly).

ii) The student will meet the supervisor every week.

iii) In each meeting, the supervisor will record the details of the meeting in the work diary of the student. The supervisors note must contain the following in his/her handwriting:

a) The date of the meeting.
b) The topics discussed in the meeting.
c) The anticipated work from the student before the next meeting.
d) The date of the next meeting.
e) The supervisor’s signature.

iv) On every meeting with the supervisor, the student has to show their progress of the project in the form of a small presentation (3-4 slides) so that efficient tracking of the progress can be done.

v) In case the student is out-stationed, it will be his responsibility to ensure that the details mentioned in points ii) and iii) are met. Further, the student must appraise the head supervisor at a regular interval (at least fortnightly) at the university about the progress made on the thesis tasks. Such communication can be through emails and if required through video-conferencing and emails.

vi) The evaluation of the work should be done by a committee twice during a semester. Before submission of thesis, a pre-submission viva/seminar will be conducted.

vii) Each student will present his/her work before a committee comprising of HOD, Course-Coordinator and Supervisor. The final grade of the student will be based on the agreement of the committee with input from external and internal examiners.

Modification of Project Tasks

Any significant changes required in the working document (e.g. change of methods, time line, or title) shall be only possible upon a common application by the student duly signed by the supervisor and submitted to Head of the Department and Course Coordinator.

Journal access in the library

All the journals which have been subscribed by the University are accessible to all the students "IN CAMPUS". They are not accessible from outside the campus. The library has provision for 5 students to access the journals simultaneously. In few days, the the number of access points shall be increased.

Dear Students,

You all are advised to give a presentation on the progress of your project work to your respective guides. This exercise needs to be completed by 28th September 2016. You can contact your respective guides for schedule of the presentation. Marks will be deducted of students who fail to give the presentation in the stipulated time.

If you have not yet reported to your supervisor or have not yet submitted the methodology, do it ASAP as there is marks deductions at each stage.

Leftover Project List

There are some students who have not been allocated any project as their choices were already taken by someone else. You have another chance to select the topics from the leftover list.

Those who have not yet selected any topic are also advised to select the topic at their earliest to avoid any inconvenience. Select the topic and send me an email.

If I do not get any choice by tomorrow (30th August, 2016), random topics/ supervisor shall be allocated and there shall be no other chance given.

Those who have been allotted the project are advised to meet their guide and start the project. The thesis/ project guidelines are available with the respective guides.
